An unknown gunman fired shots at a Lockport Township house Tuesday night, forcing two adults, two small children and a pizza delivery man to duck for cover, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.

The incident took place at about 7:50 p.m. on Nobes Avenue, office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said.

The family had ordered a pizza from Pizza Plus in Lockport, but the delivery man was unable to break the $100 bill with which they wanted to pay, Hoffmeyer said. A family friend who was visiting left to get change, and it was while he was gone that the group heard a car coming down the streets and several shots fired, she said.

No one was injured, but investigators did find a bullet hole that went through the front door and a bullet lodged in the living room wall, Hoffmeyer said.

The friend returned with change, and then left the scene before deputies arrived, she said.

The case is under investigation.
