The cultivation center for Will, Grundy and Kendall counties will be located in Joliet, as will one of three dispensaries.

Licenses to grow and dispense medical marijuana have been awarded to companies that would operate in Joliet, Shorewood and Naperville.

Gov. Bruce Rauner announced the applicants who would receive licenses Monday. The cultivation center winner was Cresco Labs, which proposed a 23224 CenterPoint Way location for its operations to serve Will, Grundy and Kendall counties.

The three counties are overseen by Illinois State Police District 5, and Cresco was listed as the top choice of the 14 companies that submitted applications. Every state police district in the state will have one cultivation center under state law.

The dispensary that will operate in Joliet is 3C Compassionate Care Center, which won Joliet City Council approval in November for its site at 1627 Rock Creek Blvd. in the Rock Run Business Park. One of the co-owners is retired Will County Judge Robert Livas.

Midwest Compassion Center Inc. won a license for its proposed operation on Amendodge Drive in Shorewood. The site was reviewed and approved by the village in August.

The third Will County license was awarded to Greenhouse Group LLC. No information was provided on where in the dispensary will be located.
