Slammers finish out July with hot promotions

After a midweek series on the road, the Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy return home to Joliet Route 66 Stadium this weekend with games July 27-29. The weekend series versus the Schaumburg Boomers features some of the Slammers top promotional nights this season.

On Friday, July 27, gates will open to fans at 4:30 pm to kick-off Superhero Night sponsored by Sprint by Air Corp Wireless. The night will feature superhero characters provided by Magic, Music and More, and honor real life superheroes. The annual Guns N Hoses charity softball game between the Joliet Police Department and Joliet Fire Department will take place from 5-6pm. Tickets for the event are $10 and include entry for the Guns N Hoses game and the Slammers game to follow at 7pm. Funds raised from the charity softball game benefit Easter Seals Joliet Region. To contribute to the fundraiser, fans can use the code “SEALS” when purchasing online or mention the code at the Box Office. Five dollars from every ten dollar ticket sold using the code will benefit Easter Seals.

Normal pre-game activities for the Slammers will begin at 6pm. A vehicle display and touch-a-truck of both Joliet Fire Department and Joliet Police Department vehicles will be available outside the main gates of the stadium and down Mayor Art Schultz Drive. Fans can watch a pre-game demonstration by the Joliet Police Department’s K-9 unit along with a performance from the Joliet Pipes and Drums.

Superhero characters will be available for fans to meet and take photos with on the concourse between 6 and 8pm. The Slammers will also be wearing a specialty superhero jersey for the game that will be available for purchase through a silent auction on the concourse. Winning bidders can take the field following the game to claim their jersey from players. Post-game fireworks will also occur.

The Slammers have a second big night planned for Saturday, July 28. Princess characters provided by Magic, Music and More will be on site for the Slammers final Princess Night of the season between 5 and 7pm. Any fans that dress up can receive a free soda voucher on entrance to the game. A special Saturday night fireworks show is also planned.

On Sunday, July 29, the Slammers host a 1:05pm Family Sunday game. Kids can run the bases post-game and there will also be full team autographs on field.
