Dwight Casimere | 12/19/2019, noon
The sleek LuxeHome showrooms of the Merchandise Mart were the setting for the 13th Annual CHILL event presented in association with Wine Spectator Magazine. More than 50 of Chicago’s top chefs joined forces with the makers of more than 150 premium wines and spirits in the setting of premier design boutiques for home building and renovation spanning over 200,000 square feet.
Benefiting The Lynn Sage Foundation, Respiratory Health Association and Saturday Place, this dynamic epicurean event welcomed more than 30 new restaurants, making this one of the largest events of its kind.
Premium Wine, Spirits and Bubbly
Joe Toohey of Lange Twins Collection of Family Wines poured the winery’s Estate Sangiovese Rose and One Hundred Vineyard Petite Sirah , among others, in the Viking/La Cornue-Middleby Residential Showroom, to rave reviews. The Hess Collection Lion Tamer Cabernet and Panthera Chardonnay were big hits in the Wood-Mode Life Style Design Showroom, particularly when paired with Chef Carlos Ramirez’s Steamed Southern Corn Pudding from County BBQ. No holiday celebration is complete without a glass of bubbly, and Mionetto Prosecco DOC flowed in the Scavolini Store Chicago showroom. Mionetto Prestige Organic DOC Extra Dry drew the most praise. Piper-Heidsieck Vintage Brut set the tone for the evening in the North Hallway, complete with the towering figure of a ceiling-high violinist in vintage dress as the backdrop. It was also the perfect place to end the evening with a toast to the Holiday Season.
