Romeoville Mayor John Noak gave his annual State of the Village address today. In it, he touched on a variety of development projects taking place along Weber Road and Route 53.
Some of the Weber Road highlights include the former Target site being acquired by a developer and a potential development at the intersection of Normantown and Weber roads, which could include a movie theater, hotel, conference center, senior housing, and other retail and restaurants. Some Route 53 highlights include the refurbishing of the 84 Lumber site for Ramco Transportation and the tearing down of the Ace Hardware building to make way for a business development.
Mayor Noak also announced several new developments around the 135th Street intersection. "The development along both of our major retail corridors continues to move forward," stated Mayor Noak. "Our local economy is creating new jobs and a wider tax base." Additionally, the mayor introduced the Lewis Innovation Hub, which is a regional business incubator on the campus of Lewis University that will assist small businesses getting off the ground.
More information on the incubator program will be available later this month and on the village's website. The mayor touched on several other developments along both corridors. A video of the State of the Village will soon be available at romeoville.org.
