Community conversation about mental illness and substance use
3/25/2019, 10:30 p.m.
Local experts will discuss the need for mental illness and substance use treatment and how legislation and policy can help expand resources available in Will County. Senator Michael Hastings will talk about two bills he is sponsoring: Senate Bill 1715 allows pharmacists with extra training to administer mental health drugs by injection and Senate Bill 1716 will require managed care groups cover the costs of prescription medications recognized as treatment. Both bills respond to the urgency of the mental health and substance use crisis in Illinois.

Laurie Summers will explain how the county board works with the State on important legislation relating to mental health and substance use disorder treatment. Dr. Burke will talk about specific programs in the county and Scott Hullinger and Dr. Randhawa will talk about the services available at Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital.
The community conversation will take place Saturday March 30, 2019, from 10am to 12pm at Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd. Joliet, IL
